Guests say

Kirra is a spacious cottage in Polzeath, Cornwall, appreciated for its great location and beautiful views. Guests have enjoyed the clean bedding, new television, and outdoor furniture. Some guests received a welcome bag of goodies, adding a touch of thoughtfulness to their stay. While the property has shown signs of wear, with several guests noting it could benefit from refurbishment and a deep clean, it remains a beloved base for holidays, with many looking forward to returning.

The property generally appears clean upon arrival, with well-laundered bedding. However, several reviews mention issues such as dog hair, debris under furniture, and a need for a deeper clean, indicating room for improvement in this area.

The location is consistently praised for its proximity to Polzeath and the coastal path, offering beautiful views and an ideal base for exploring Cornwall. It is a highlight for many guests.

The property is described as spacious and homey, with clean and comfortable bedding. However, some guests have reported uncomfortable mattresses and noise issues, suggesting that comfort could be enhanced.

While some new additions like a television and outdoor furniture are appreciated, guests have reported several maintenance issues such as plumbing leaks, rusty appliances, and weak water pressure. These indicate a need for updates and repairs to the facilities.

Guests have mentioned receiving a welcome bag of goodies, which is a thoughtful gesture. However, as not all reviews reference this, and to ensure expectations are managed, it is politely noted that such gifts are not guaranteed.

About this property

Kirra is a spacious and inviting holiday home, tucked away along a quiet road at Highcliff and is just a short walk downhill to the sandy beach and vibrant village shops of Polzeath. With a sunny terrace and lawned garden, along with private use of the tennis court on request, Kirra can accommodate up to six guests, offering a lovely retreat for families and their pets. Take a seat with a refreshing drink on the sheltered terrace, a hotspot on a sunny day, whilst the open-plan sitting room/kitchen is a light, sociable space to enjoy; sink into the deep sofas, and on cool Autumnal nights, light the woodburning stove, making Kirra a suitable base for all seasons. Neat and well-equipped, you won't mind rustling up a quick holiday supper, or a round of scones for a cream tea, in the immaculate kitchen. The bedrooms offer a range of sleeping accommodation with a king-size bed and two twin rooms on offer. The epitome of the Cornish seaside resort, Polzeath is located on the North Cornwall coast and has a fun, buzzy atmosphere with varied beach shops, art galleries and great places to eat. Set up camp in one of the sheltered coves on the edge of the beach or at low tide, head to Pentireglaze (Baby Bay to locals) for a quieter family picnic. Follow the coast path along the cliff to Pentire Point and The Rumps for awe-inspiring and dramatic scenes of the ocean and the mouth of the estuary with the lifeboat station in the distance at Trevose Head. Families with youngsters can happily relax at Daymer Bay with a picnic and buckets and spades, knowing that beach games, paddling and rock pools will keep little darlings amused for the whole day. Book your next break with a stay at Kirra.

The seaside village of Polzeath boasts a sandy beach, which is bordered by rock pools and is acclaimed to be one of the best surfing beaches in the country. Polzeath itself has a number of small shops, cafes and restaurants, and the South West Coast Path, a 630-mile route, runs through the village. Just over seven miles away is the popular market town of Wadebridge, which is set alongside the River Camel and offers an array of shops, pubs and restaurants, as well as North Cornwall's only family-owned cinema. There’s wonderful countryside in the area, with the renowned Camel Trail passing through the town, and the nearby town of Padstow, with its harbour, pastel-washed medieval houses and celebrated restaurants is well worth exploring. Within driving distance is the UK surfing capital of Newquay, with over 11 miles of golden sandy beaches. Polzeath is an excellent base for exploring this part of Cornwall.

The house was warm and comfortable with everything that we needed. We had read several negative reviews from the past, which simply did not match up to our positive experience. The house was clean, well-presented with everything we needed. It was such a nice touch to arrive late and find milk ane bread for us which was much appreciated. The location is perfect for everything in Rock and Polzeath. The house was quiet with little sign of neighbours. The kitchen was suitably well-equipped for our needs and there was good wifi and tv access for when we needed it. We have had the most amazing week and will certainly be booking again. I can’t think of any negatives about the property.

    Thank you!

The upstairs shower head would not stay up and the downstairs shower handle was on the floor when we arrived. The kitchen tap is loose and not working properly; the oven is really old; the grill pan was full of grease from a previous occupant; and the kitchen generally looks tired. There is no coffee machine or hairdryer which is disappointing. The firepit outside was full of old ash and all the grates were filthy. The outside of the property needs some maintenance. In terms of location it's great and we had a lovely week's holiday.
