Dog Friendly Cottages In Polzeath

One of our favourite Cornish towns here at Snaptrip, Polzeath is a little known wonder, and its holiday cottages aren't too far behind. Just north from Padstow, Polzeath was much loved by late poet laureate, Sir John Betjeman, who immortalised this seaside town in verse. A lyrical mix of unassuming, uplifting and ultra-cosy - we hope our Polzeath holiday cottages live on forever, too!

Making for a wonderful trip to the coast, these Polzeath holiday cottages have everything the modern holidaymaker needs- close proximity to bustling pubs and traditional cafes, only a few miles from the sea, plus modern furnishings and wifi, so you can post the pictures that'll make your friends weep. Polzeath is one of Cornwall's most lauded surfing spots, a safe beach with the occasional dolphin! For a magical surfing staycation, there's nowhere quite like Polzeath.

What our customers say about their holidays

  • Charlotte - Verified booking

General feedback is that it’s a lovely property but not very well maintained unfortunately.

We had a lovely week but I wouldn’t return unless some of the issues listed below are fixed. I really hope they do address the issues as the house is a lovely layout & could be amazing. Property had been cleaned between visits and sheets were fresh but some of the maintenance/ quality issues (to name a few!): 1) property not deep cleaned. Under cooker was dirty, radios on shelves thick with stickiness and dust, curtain pull chords black with dirt, shower silicon/edge of trays dirty. Sofa dirty & discoloured. 2) maintenance issues; broken safety latch on upstairs window (which meant we couldn’t have our daughters bedroom window left open in the heat!). Loose toilet roll holders in every showerroom, sofa arm completely caved in on one of the sofas, coffee table legs bent, loose tile downstairs on the hallway, utility room was just a mess (broken clothes airer left mangled in there, mop was disgusting, room was generally dirty). Downstairs shower room/wet room drainage was backing up & there’s only one drain in the whole room which means water goes everywhere and you need to sweep it back to the drain. 3) General things that made the house feel a bit tatty & not well maintained: decorative cushions were dirty and tatty, all the glasses were mismatched (and we found a broken one in the cupboard). Cutlery, pots and pans provided were all mismatched and tarnished and old. Looks like a collection of random things people had just left behind. All the knifes had tarnished rust spots on. Cleaning products weren’t new /replenished for our visit; eg, the dish clothes were clearly not new, only a little bit of cleaning spray and washing up liquid available, no kitchen roll. Towels had seen better days and there were no spares provided which would have been helpful for a weeks stay. Cushions on outside furniture off lounge was mismatched on one side and missing from the other. Good things: Well located. Good selection of TV apps which is really helpful with the little ones. General cleaning had clearly been done (it’s just the deep clean elements had been missed). We loved the layout (two families sharing so each had our own floor which was great - don’t often find this layout!

Property was dirty when arrived - litter on floor in in lounge, bits of dirt on floors, toilet in en-suite dirty, en-suite floor dirty, litter & coffee stains left on marble topped bedside table in double bedroom & when wiped away with damp white cloth, cloth was filthy, sofa in kitchen area dirty & seen better days, kitchen drawers contained litter & bits of old food, dishwasher needed rinse aid when we arrived, not a lot of wardrobe space as in several bedrooms cupboards locked - in one twin room no hanging space. Only enough outdoor chairs at table for 8 people despite sleeping 10 & of the 8 chairs one was partly broken. Only 2 rusty old Sun loungers. Table tennis table in shed has had water leakage on it & no longer flat at one end & bats were in a bad state. All games except garden Jenga were for young kids. Mini snooker table with one broken cue. Extra games annexe with washing machine & drier was filthy. Lots of owners own cram lying around in games room & rusty broken old pool / boat ladder lying in garden, dirty boards/ropes/cans lying around table tennis shed. Pegs on washing line rusty & disintegrated. Blender didn’t work. No hairdryer. Fridge was tiny for 10 people. A storage unit/table in kitchen area had a few cushions & a puzzle marked with missing pieces & covered in lumps of old food bits that had presumably fallen through the holes. Boules place has seen better days! It Range cooker was set up to come on only in mornings & evenings - it would have been nice to have been notified about this for planning as 2 small electric rings are not satisfactory for 10 people. Directions could have been clearer i.e. turn right on the sharp left bend directly after barn & property is on RHS of lane to Mill directly opposite 2 stone cottages.

We have stayed in Kirra many times over the years.

It is a lovely spacious cottage and has most things you would need. All beds and towels provided and beautifully laundered and nice new gesture having a little bag of goodies on arrival. Lovely to see a new television this year and new outdoor table and chairs. However some items especially in the kitchen need replacing now. The dishwasher was very rusty this year and the fridge has been just holding it together. Taps in the kitchen sink are kind of wobbly and under the sink leaks a little. Generally house needs a bit of a facelift now, just a repaint and a proper clean behind and under the furniture. I had to restrain myself from clearing under the furniture on arrival and hoovering and properly cleaning things. I know it is a holiday home but we have been here so many times over the years and it obviously needs some TLC now. We would love to come back and hope some of these items may be addressed.

A really nice bolthole for a couple of nights away. The cottage itself is cosy, fine for 2 adults and 1 child but any more and it could be a squeeze. It had everything you could possibly need from a cork screw to a garlic press! We liked the fact there are different types of glasses too. An abundance of cleaning products provided and great having towels, tea towels and oven gloves which is always appreciated to save on packing your own. Lovely little private courtyard at the back of the property. The log burner was a bonus and our dog loved lying in front of it. Location wise it is very peaceful but you do need a car as there aren't many amenities close by. Really close to Rock beach which is beautiful. Not far to Polzeath and Padstow. Handy parking at the cricket pitch not far from the cottage. All in all a lovely stay. Thank you.

    We had an amazing stay.

The house was warm and comfortable with everything that we needed. We had read several negative reviews from the past, which simply did not match up to our positive experience. The house was clean, well-presented with everything we needed. It was such a nice touch to arrive late and find milk ane bread for us which was much appreciated. The location is perfect for everything in Rock and Polzeath. The house was quiet with little sign of neighbours. The kitchen was suitably well-equipped for our needs and there was good wifi and tv access for when we needed it. We have had the most amazing week and will certainly be booking again. I can’t think of any negatives about the property.
