Guests say

Oyster Cottage is a cosy and well-equipped property in the picturesque countryside of Salcombe, Devon. Guests have praised its peacefulness and comfort, ideal for those looking to enjoy a quiet retreat and the local scenery. Some guests noted the challenge of the cottage's location due to its access via a narrow lane and the need for a torch at night.

The cottage was generally found to be clean, with all necessary amenities provided. However, a few guests suggested that a deeper clean in certain areas could enhance the overall experience.

The location is appreciated for its tranquillity and natural beauty, but the access via a narrow lane and the distance from local facilities posed difficulties for some guests, particularly those with elderly relatives or when returning on foot at night.

The cottage is described as cosy and comfortable, with a log burner adding to the ambience. However, there were some issues with the radiators not working properly, which affected the comfort level for some guests.

While the cottage is well-equipped and guests were generally satisfied, there were no specific mentions of the state of facilities and maintenance beyond the need for a deep clean and radiator issues, thus a score cannot be accurately provided.

Guests have not mentioned any specific gestures of thoughtfulness such as gifts, so it is not possible to assess this category. It should be noted that such gestures, if provided, are a bonus and not guaranteed.

The bedding and towels were all very clean. The kitchen was well prepared and overall the cottage served our needs very well.

A great place if you want to explore the area and then stay in at night. The cottage is situated at the bottom of a long narrow single track lane. Ok if you’re used to driving/walking down similar tracks but a bit of a white knuckle ride hoping that you don’t meet cars coming in the other direction if you’re not, we did. Very few if any pull in points so it’s reveres down the long track. At night there is no lighting apart from the occasional house and again even though it’s only 20/25 min walk it is steep and very dark. If you’re staying in Autumn/Winter months and out walking back after dark take a torch.I don’t want this to be negative as we had a great time and loved the cottage but it needs to be clear about location and access. Also to note if you’re using satnav it doesn’t get you there, once it says you’ve arrived keep going. It’s about another 5/10 mins down the track.
