Guests say

Jasmine Cottage in Devon is praised for its spaciousness, well-equipped kitchen, and beautiful location, ideal for exploring South Hams and Dartmoor. Guests appreciate the proximity to local pubs and the peaceful setting. Some concerns were raised about parking, dog security in the garden, and minor maintenance issues, but overall, the cottage offers a comfortable and homely stay.

The cottage is consistently described as clean, with specific mentions of its spotless condition. However, a few minor comments about wear and tear suggest room for improvement.

The location is highly praised for its beauty, tranquility, and convenience for local walks and visiting nearby towns. The challenging parking and narrow lanes are noted but do not detract significantly from the overall positive reception of the location.

Guests find the cottage comfortable, with a powerful shower and good heating system. Some guests mentioned issues with bed comfort and a deep sofa, indicating slight room for improvement in this area.

The well-equipped kitchen and powerful shower are highlights, but there are several mentions of maintenance issues such as a broken extractor fan, loose doorknobs, and the need for garden gates. These comments suggest that while facilities are generally good, there is a need for attention to maintenance.

While guests mention a 'goodie box' and a welcome parcel, there is not enough consistent information about the provision of gifts or their impact on the stay to accurately score thoughtfulness. It should be noted that such gifts are a bonus and not guaranteed.

Little niggles are: Saggy single beds. Bad for someone with back trouble. Two broken sash cords in rear double bedroom making it impractical to open the window. Black mould on the inner lower frames of the upper sashes of the bedrooms. A deep main sofa. Uncomfortable for short people.

Surrounding neighbours lovely friendly people. Pretty gardens. Two great pubs both within walking distance. Great base to explore surrounding areas. Slight improvements could be made on cleaning and some tired and worn towels and bedding probably needs replacement ( non of this affected our stay but feel worth a mention) Have thoroughly enjoyed a very relaxing short stay. Thank you

Our main objective was to meet up with family in the area and take advantage of the local countryside and eateries. We walked the dog to the Maltsers Arms a couple of times which did not disappoint! The food and service was excellent. It was mentioned in the details that parking may be a problem (tight) and so it proved to be as we had an SUV which took quite a bit of care to negotiate the tree. Pity that the gardens front and back were not fully dog secure as it would have been quite easy to achieve. One issue I need to point out is that on the third day of our holiday I noticed that someone had let himself in to the garden and was putting a 6 foot fence up in the garden, which reduced its size by 10-15 feet, between the house and the property behind. I approached the guy and asked him for an explanation. He said he had been asked by the property owner behind to erect the fence and he couldn't say any more!! Neither Sykes or the owners of the property we were staying in had communicated to us that this was planned to happen. POOR!
