Clover Cottage in Devon is highly praised for its cosy warmth, well-equipped amenities, and picturesque location with views over Hooe Lake. Guests appreciate the property's charm, cleanliness, and the thoughtful touches provided. While some mention challenges with steep stairs and a nearby construction, the overall sentiment is positive, with many expressing a desire to return.
Most guests found Clover Cottage to be immaculately clean and well-presented upon arrival. However, a few guests noted issues with cleanliness, such as a dirty BBQ and a smelly rug, which slightly lowers the overall score.
The location is frequently highlighted as excellent, with its proximity to pubs, restaurants, and walking paths. The views from the property are particularly appreciated, although one review mentioned construction work impacting the experience.
The majority of guests found the cottage to be comfortable, with a warm and cosy atmosphere. Some guests, however, found the spiral staircase challenging and the seating in the living area could be improved for comfort.
While guests are generally satisfied with the facilities, there are mixed reviews regarding maintenance issues such as the need for a proper shower, overgrown gardens, and the absence of a wardrobe. Due to these varied experiences, a definitive score cannot be provided.
Guests frequently mention the thoughtful touches, such as a welcome bottle of champagne and biscuits. It's important to note that while these gestures are greatly appreciated, they are not guaranteed for every stay.

Rear garden is a little tricky to access from back door halfway up stairs. Sofa and chair are ok for a short period, but do become uncomfortable if spending a few hours on them. Overall we were very pleased with it.

Beautiful front garden that sits over the lake and a lovely place to sit and have a few drinks. Thereâs a back garden thatâs secluded accessible by a small door (watch your head - I still have the bumps!) which is ideal for your morning coffee. The spiral staircase is fine but if you have any mobility issues, you may want to take particular care. Property was spotlessly clean upon arrival and a few essentials left for us were gratefully received. Location is fine and thereâs a few shops nearby and a pretty decent pub stumbling distance away. Plymouth itself with all that offers is only a 20 minute drive away. Able to park car right next to property and everyone we bumped into was very friendly. Overall, a lovely place to stay. Just wish we had better weather :(

Really loved all the attention to detail in both the furnishings and decor. We had everything we needed. Suggest that the lights on the staircase should be working. Thanks for a great week - we would stay again.
