About this property

The Tern is a fully renovated fisherman’s terraced cottage, located on a hillside within the vibrant Harbour Bowl area of Brixham. The accommodation is over 3 levels and has been furnished to allow flexibility to accommodate different groups, up to a maximum party size of 6. We also welcome one dog.

On the ground floor, there is an open plan living room, leading to a separate dining area. The living area has a log burning stove, smart TV and DVD player, whilst the dining area has a table with an extra fold out leaf, should extra space be required. There is a coat cupboard and separate shoe storage area, under the stairs.

The galley kitchen has an induction hob, electric cooker, tall fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, coffer maker and bean grinder. There is a downstairs w.c.

From the kitchen, a door leads to the enclosed, paved garden, accessed via a flight of turning steps. The garden gets full sun in the afternoon and there is a wooden table with two benches and two chairs. Garden cushions and non-breakable glasses and plates are provided for eating outside.

On the first floor, at the front of the house, is a bedroom furnished with a fixed king size bed, with generous wardrobe space. The view is over the colourful housing found in the harbour bowl area. The smaller bedroom overlooking the garden at the rear, is generally configured as two smaller single beds, best suited for children. However, these can be zipped and linked to make a standard size 5 ft kingsize bed upon request. On this level is a family bathroom, with a bath and shower above.

An original winding staircase leads to the loft bedroom. This private and recently decorated room is generally presented with a king-size (5 ft) bed, but this has the facility to be divided into 2 singles upon request. The view from this room is over an area of the harbour and a chair with binoculars is provided to enjoy the vista. This bedroom enjoys the benefit of an ensuite shower room.

The Tern is close to Furzeham Green, which overlooks Torbay. This open area enjoys lovely views, but also has a play area for guests with younger children and is very useful for those with a dog. For those with more adult requirements, 2 pubs are nearby. Access to the town is via roads (all with inclines, some steep) or series of steps which lead between different levels.

Brixham is renowned for its fishing fleet, and many of the local restaurants specialise in fish dishes.There are a wide range of places to eat, many of which offer daily “specials*. For those who enjoy cooking, freshly caught fish can be purchased in two outlets by the harbour. Casual dining options are also plentiful, with some excellent independent coffee shops, and The Curious Kitchen is a notable example.

Resting in the south of Torbay on the beautiful South West Coast Path, is the buzzing harbour town of Brixham. Situated in what is known as The English Riviera, filled with an abundance of charming cafés, quintessential pubs and well-stocked stores, this picturesque town has become a popular spot for many holiday makers. The seaside towns of Paignton and Torquay lie just a short drive away, whilst further inland visitors can discover the historical market towns of Totnes and Newton Abbot.

Three bedrooms: 1 x king-size, 1 x twin with 2'6" beds (zip/link, can be king-size upon request), 1x loft king size (can be twin on request) en-suite shower and wc.

Starter pack of logs provided for wood buring stove between the months of October and March.

Log burning stove, Coffee maker/bean grinder, bluetooth speaker.

Highchair available.

Roadside parking available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Enclosed paved forecourt and enclosed back garden with table and chairs.

One well behaved pet welcome.

Note: Steep steps leading up to the back garden, please take caution.

Note - the en-suite bedroom is in the loft and access is via a tight turning staircase.
