Guests say

Dovecote in Pickering is a well-liked cottage, praised for its excellent location, comfort, and style. Guests appreciate its proximity to local amenities and attractions, with many enjoying the peacefulness and character of the property. While parking and steps may be challenging for some, the cottage's charm and the hosts' hospitality contribute to a delightful stay.

Most guests found Dovecote clean and tidy, contributing to a pleasant stay. However, a few guests mentioned issues with cleanliness upon arrival, such as dirty worktops and crockery, which slightly lowers the score.

The cottage's location is highly praised for being central and convenient, with easy access to shops, restaurants, and attractions like the North Yorkshire Moors Railway. The only minor drawback mentioned is the on-street parking situation.

Guests generally find the cottage comfortable, with cosy bedrooms and a relaxing lounge. Some concerns were raised about the mattress quality and uneven steps, but overall, the comfort level is rated highly.

The cottage is equipped with modern amenities and guests are satisfied with the facilities provided. However, some maintenance issues like a loose toilet seat and a problematic flush handle have been reported, affecting the score.

While many guests have had positive experiences, there are no specific mentions of gifts or extra thoughtful touches provided by the hosts in the reviews. Therefore, a score cannot be given for thoughtfulness.

We always enjoy our stay there, and we've been four times, and hope to go again. Everything is spick and span, and our needs are met with plenty of lovely white towels, pots and pans, dishwasher, fridge, washing machine and microwave. There is also a toaster and kettle. Furnishings are very comfortable. We usually go in November, but are never cold in Dovecote, it is always kept toasty and warm. The owners are very friendly and approachable and are happy for us to contact them for any queries or problems.

We had a fantastic stay as a family perfect location for venturing out across North Yorkshire. Located in the lovely village of Pickering with all amenities in a short walking distance. Looking forward to returning to Dovecote in the not to distant future.

The Cottage was great and just right for what we wanted The steps would have been an issue for anyone with mobility issues and the parking was a bit of a pain but this was due to being bank holiday All in all it was a lovely location for a base to visit the Yorkshire Dales
