Guests say

47 Baxtergate is a spacious and well-equipped cottage in Whitby, appreciated for its central location and warmth. Guests have enjoyed the property's size and the festive decorations provided for a Christmas break. While some guests have noted issues with noise, mattresses, and cleanliness, the property remains a popular choice for its convenience and family-friendly amenities.

Several reviews mention concerns with cleanliness, including cobwebs, dirty alleyways, and unclean kitchen appliances. However, some guests found the property to be clean, leading to a below-average score.

The location is highly praised for being central, with easy access to local amenities and the seafront. Despite some noise issues due to proximity to pubs, the convenience factor is a significant positive.

Guests have mixed feelings about comfort, with some finding the property warm and well-furnished, while others struggled with uncomfortable mattresses and noise disturbances. The score reflects this balance.

The property is equipped with necessary facilities, but guests have noted a lack of kitchen equipment, issues with windows not opening, and concerns about fire safety due to limited exits. Maintenance issues like leaky showers and the need for better ventilation have also been mentioned.

While guests have appreciated the Christmas decorations, there is insufficient information on consistent thoughtful gestures such as gifts to accurately score this category. Therefore, the score is set to null.

There was 4 adults and two young children in our party. One child is autistic so can be very noisy at times. The property was in a way ditached so it didnt upset anyone. Having a double bed and a twin bed room on the 1st floor and a mirror image on the second alowed the two kids to sleep on different floors so not winding each other up at night. To living rooms, each with a TV one on the ground floor and one on the third floor gave us, grandma and grandad a rest from kids. A toilet on all 4 floors brill. and unusually in Whitby these days Two sets of door keys. Not ideal if your after 5 star cottage, but great for a familly with kids

Kitchen would benefit from a deep clean especially the table. Beds very soft with memory foam mattresses, double bed bed on 1st floor needs attention, one of the end lats was built upside down so the mattress was lopsided. Noise from adjoining cottage (47a) above kitchen at times. Entrance to cottages could do with tidying up and made to look a bit more appealing but is apparently owned by private residents next door, otherwise a very enjoyable stay and nothing that stopped us rebooking both cottages for next year to bring all the family.

The bathrooms were good, shame no loo roll was provided. The kitchen was ok, not very well stocked for the size of the house and the worktops were sticky. The alley way to the property gives a very bad impression and could easily be made to look better. The lounge was very dirty and had cobwebs everywhere, it also had a very musty smell. I understand this is an old property but with a thorough cleaning would be a nicer place to stay.
