Pow-Wow Shore Cottage is highly praised for its stunning views and idyllic location, offering a peaceful retreat with a homely atmosphere. Guests appreciate the well-equipped property, thoughtful touches, and the proximity to the beach, making it a favourite for many. The cottage's charm, coupled with the local attractions and friendly community, contribute to a delightful stay, despite some minor cleanliness and maintenance issues.
The cottage receives positive remarks for overall cleanliness, particularly upstairs. However, some guests noted areas that could be improved, such as under beds and certain kitchen items. The presence of cobwebs and a dusty mat were mentioned, suggesting room for improvement in cleaning detail.
The location is consistently lauded for its spectacular views and proximity to the beach, offering tranquillity and natural beauty. The lack of light pollution for stargazing and the convenience to local amenities in Annan are also appreciated, making it an ideal setting for a relaxing holiday.
Guests find the cottage comfortable, with cosy furnishings and a wood burner adding to the ambience. The provision of 'dog things' and the appreciation of the views contribute to a pleasant stay. However, some guests mentioned the seating could be more comfortable, and the sloping ceilings in the bedrooms could be problematic for taller individuals.
The cottage is well-equipped, with a good selection of utensils and a utility space. The presence of a log burner and the maintenance of the garden are positives. Criticisms include a small kitchen, an unusable iron, and a cramped downstairs toilet, indicating some areas for maintenance attention.
The thoughtful touches, such as dog baths and towels, are well-received by guests. Welcome treats were also mentioned, enhancing the overall experience. It should be noted that while such gestures are appreciated, they are not guaranteed for every stay.

The view of the estuary is amazing and ever changing. It is worth using the binoculars provided to watch the shore birds as there are so many. The location is peaceful and I love the lack of street lighting. The on street parking is very plentiful and as we brought 3 cars it was much appreciated. The immediate surrounding buildings are lovely and there is an interesting history to the area. The nearby town of Annan has everything you'll need including a superb bakery and a Tesco superstore. The cottage is great. Although the kitchen is tiny it had everything we needed apart from a teapot. The dining table fitted us all comfortably. We didn't use the washer drier but it was reassuring knowing that it was there and a rotary airer with pegs in the garden. We appreciated the hooks by the backdoor as it enabled us to hang up all our coats and leave outdoor boots to dry. A few tiny changes could really improve visits - tighten the screws on the toilet seat downstairs and for the hot water tap for the downstairs washbasin. Also more plug sockets / extension leads in the front bedrooms as well as bins in bedrooms. Finally, thicker pillows as the ones provided were ridiculously thin.

The people locally are very friendly and welcoming. The area is unfairly overlooked as a part of Scotland for tourists to explore: we found some fabulous places to visit, including stunning walks (see the Black Loch in Galloway Forest), towns (Kirkcudbright and Castle Douglas) and eateries (donât miss Gather Laggan) within a 90 minute drive. The cottage has lots of positives: it was very clean, with large lounge and diner, two toilets handy for our family of four, and comfy beds. The kitchen was very small, but useable with the dining area and utility space. Though we would love to see a slimline dishwasher installed. The garden was well maintained and cosy to sit in the evening sunshine, though we would request a dog friendly gate which we think could be easily added. The lovely decor in the cottage was to our taste and it was well equipped with sharp knives (unusual in holiday cottages sadly) and utensils. We very much enjoyed lighting the log burner on our first night. Thank you for a lovely stay in this beautiful part of Scotland
