About this property

Cabbage Patch is a sweet little holiday cottage on Anglesey that makes for a cosy, romantic retreat for a couple. Inside, the fire keeps things cosy and the seating area outside allows for a little nightcap in the evening. You’ve got walks on your doorstep and you’re not far from Rhoscolyn beach. There’s even a brilliant gastro pub, the White Eagle, within walking distance. Cabbage Patch truly is the ideal couples retreat!

You will enter into a lovely open plan living area. To your left is the cosy seating area with a sofa in front of a sweet little woodburner. To the right, in front of the large window, is a dining table and chairs, ideal for a leisurely brunch or relaxing supper. The kitchen is straight ahead and will make self-catering a breeze with a microwave, dishwasher, cooker and fridge.

To the left for the kitchen is a walkway which leads through to the double bedroom and an ensuite shower room which also has a loo and wash hand basin.

The garden is enclosed and offers an ideal, peaceful place to sit and relax with a book and your glass of wine - maybe even a cheeky Pimm’s on a sunny summer’s afternoon? The choice is yours!

This holiday cottage is in an ideal location for those wanting both relaxation and a fun-filled break- activities, beaches, attractions and fab places to eat are all close by.

If you’re part of a larger party, or looking for a group getaway, Cabbage Patch can be booked with neighbouring Plas, which sleeps 10. There is also Plas Bach opposite which sleeps a further 2. It is easily integrated into the living space of Plas if required, but there is a separate entrance to provide a private and romantic getaway for two.

Located on Holy Island, three miles from Trearddur Bay, Rhoscolyn is a small village with a church and primary school and is the most southerly place on Holy Island. Rhoscolyn also offers an excellent pub on the lane down to the beach, which is renowned for its gastro food, and the beach itself with its slipway, ideal for small dinghies and power boats, is a popular family destination throughout the summer owing to the sheltered cove and gently sloping sands. Also excellent cliff-top walks can be enjoyed and an abundance of wildlife can be seen, often including seals on the headland. Just two miles away is the village of Valley, which has a Post Office, chemist, shops and eating places, plus the nearby resort of Trearddur Bay is situated on the western shore of the island and is truly beautiful with a great sweep of low grassy coastline indented with rocky coves and fine Blue Flag sandy beaches. There are shops, pubs and restaurants in Trearddur Bay itself and nearby Holyhead offers a wider range of amenities, including a very good leisure centre, supermarkets, harbour front, a marina, the world’s second longest breakwater and exciting day trips to Dublin on the ferry. Watersports, bathing, sailing, windsurfing and horse riding are the main activities in the summer months, plus golfers will enjoy the excellent Holyhead 18 hole links golf course, and the area is also a great place for nature lovers with renowned birdwatching at the South Stack Lighthouse rspb Reserve. An excellent location with plenty to see and do!

But I do think the departure time of 9 o'clock is far to early and needs to be reviewed, it detracts from a lovely stay.

Some mention in reviews of nocturnal noises, it's not mice but twigs from trees too close to the windows. I'd definitely recommend investing in a decent mattress and new chair and sofa. Not only do the existing ones look shabby, they are rather uncomfortable. The main picture in the listing is not Cabbage Patch but part of the neighbouring property. I mention this because it gives the impression of lots of light in the apartment. This is so for the lounge but there is very little natural light in the bedroom. Great if you like a pitch black bedroom but if you're claustrophobic like me and a light sleeper it's a bit of a problem. On the plus side, it was immaculately clean, full of character and the secure garden was an added bonus.

The coast path is almost on your doorstep, along with a lovely quiet beach, and a really nice pub (the food in the pub is quite expensive though). The open fire is a nice addition - very cosy, and easy to maintain. We read a reviewer mention mice - there are none - it's the sound of pipes expanding and contracting in the roof. Would recommend to anybody looking to get away for a few days :)
