. Lying peacefully on the banks of the glistening River Teifi within extensive grounds and on a 91-acre working farm, these traditional, Welsh barn conversions (refs JUK, JUL, OAM and OFA) have been converted to a very good standard and offer a perfect base for a family or couples looking to explore the dramatic coastline and rugged mountains of west Wales. Conveniently located just 2 miles away from the charming, market town of Cardigan, Rosehill Farm is situated well off the beaten track and is surrounded by rolling terrain where horses, goats and lambs call home. On the approach to the farm, guests will be greeted with spectacular views of the River Teifi, which is famously renowned for its freshwater salmon and trout fishing, and superb water based activities including kayaking and sailing. Each cottage has been sympathetically restored to uncover much of its original charm and character, including exposed beams and stone walls. Outside, guests can relax on their own private patio area, perfect for unwinding after a busy day’s adventure whilst watching the red kites and peregrine falcons soar over the magnificent scenery.

Close to the iconic Pembrokeshire National Park, guests can ramble the majestic Preseli Hills and discover picturesque walks and ancient monuments, including the Bronze Age burial chamber of Pentre Ifan Dolmen, which stands beautifully in rugged terrain. The nearby market towns of Cardigan, Newcastle Emlyn and Carmarthen are all rich with Welsh culture and offer a selection of traditional pubs, boutique and antique gift shops, along with some restaurants waiting to be explored. The magnificent coastline is just a short drive away and is home to golden beaches, horseshoe coves and the pretty coastal towns of Newport, New Quay and Aberaeron, which are set in tranquil fishing harbours where bottlenose dolphins and seals can be spotted on a clear day. For an interesting day out, take a scenic drive to Britain’s smallest city of St David’s and discover its 12th-century cathedral and medieval ruins of Bishops’s Palace, or take a sea safari around the off-shore island of Ramsey, cruising close to seabirds, seals and the occasional dolphin. Shops and pub 2 miles.

When I read the reviews from previous reviewers I was a bit sceptical. 2021 there were no potholes on the lane leading to the farm and the barn we stayed at has been updated to an excellent standard. The booklet on arrival was a good idea as it gives information on the history of the farm and barn, local places to eat The Ferry Inn highly recommend, takeaways. Ideal for bird watching or just a quiet retreat. The owners were very helpful.

There were a couple of significant issues:- firstly there was no Wifi available at this location; the internet website particulars specifically stated that there was Wifi available at Rose Barn- this was critical to our choice as under the current restrictions, the Tourist Information Centres were closed and all paper Tourist information had been removed from the Barn; therefore we had to rely on Internet searches to find things to do during the holiday; without Wifi there was a cost implication in upgrading and using our own mobile 'phone data.Secondly, although the website description of the venue indicated that access was via a 'half-mile long track', it did not mention that this track was unsuitable for road vehicles other than 4x4's; a fact that was brought home unexpectedly on the way home with a shredded tyre and damaged wheel tracking- my car is still at the garage.

The cottage is set in beautiful surroundings, however it really does need a redecoration and some TLC. There we things that hadn’t been deep cleaned and the outside area had weeds and hadn’t been cleaned. Also other areas had their grass cut ours didn’t. The hot tub was not checked daily. It’s a shame because it is a lovely cottage but just needs looking after.
