Guests say

Guests appreciate the stunning, tranquil location of Lletty, a traditional Welsh hill cottage, and the thoughtful welcome pack provided. While the property offers a rustic charm and is well-stocked for a relaxing stay, some guests suggest that the furnishings and equipment could benefit from updating. The property's remote setting on narrow roads is noted, and the internet connectivity is a pleasant surprise.

There is insufficient information in the reviews to accurately assess the cleanliness of the property.

The location is highly praised for its rural charm and stunning views, contributing to the feeling of a true escape. However, the access via narrow roads may be challenging for some.

The cottage is described as cosy, particularly the sitting room with its log burner. However, comments about worn furniture, poor quality beds and pillows, and the property being better suited for fewer guests suggest comfort could be improved.

The property is equipped with essentials like a washing machine and internet, but issues with the TV remote, central heating, and hot water supply, as well as a mouse problem, indicate that facilities and maintenance need attention.

The welcome pack is mentioned positively in several reviews, indicating a level of thoughtfulness. However, as gifts are not guaranteed, this score reflects the balance between the positive mentions and the need for caution in expectation.

Lletty is one of 10 self-catering cottages on The Bodnant Estate, a strikingly beautiful agricultural estate in North Wales. Set in hilly and wooded countryside in the lower reaches of the Conwy Valley, it commands spectacular views across to Snowdonia. Stone cottages and farm buildings have been restored using traditional materials and techniques, and the Estate supports farming and encourages other rural activities. Various houses and cottages in scenic positions on the Estate are available for rent as holiday lets. Come and stay in one of them - and enjoy walking on the many miles of private woodland paths winding through the Estate.

An historic three-storey Grade II stone holiday farmhouse dating from the 17th century, rescued from dereliction and sympathetically restored, leading to an award from the Conwy Civic Society during 2009 for its restoration. Lletty is situated high above the Eglwysbach valley, with fine pastoral views. It has many period features including two vaulted rooms, a two-storey room where the warmth of the animals was used to heat the farmhouse, exposed beams, wooden and slate floors, and a bread oven. A separate annexe provides accommodation for a further two guests.

For larger groups this property is available to book with Lletty and Annexe to accommodate eight guests. There are a number of other properties available to book at the Bodnant Estate; Ty Newydd, sleeping eight guests, Ty Cerrig, sleeping seven guests, sleeping eight guests, Garth Iwrch, sleeping four guests, Bryn Rhydd, sleeping four guests, Tydden Derwen, sleeping five guests, Minafon sleeping two guests, Ty Ucha’r Ffordd, sleeping two guests, Bryn Derw, sleeping 4 guests and Bryn Mawr, sleeping 7 guests.

Lletty is a small traditional Welsh hill cottage with thick walls and small windows looking north-east over the Eglwysbach valley. Living accommodation is over 3 floors; presumably the vaulted lower-ground floor once sheltered livestock. The sitting room is cosy with a log burner but a better size for 4 adults than 6 or 8. Only 2 can eat comfortably in the kitchen. Some of the equipment and furnishings could do with replacing or upgrading. More fridge space would be welcome as would better (low energy) lighting throughout. The beds are comfortable but the pillows are a bit old and lumpy and the duvets are not the correct size for the beds. The central heating timer controls do not work and many radiators do not have functioning valves so they can’t be switched off or down when a room is not in use The combi-boiler can only provide hot water for one tap/shower at a time. There is a mouse problem in the kitchen. We had a great holiday but it wasn’t the Estate Cottage experience we hoped and paid for.
