About this property

A substantial, double-fronted Georgian townhouse situated close to Barmouth town centre and close to the picturesque harbour and Blue Flag beach. Penlan House is a great base for friends and larger families wishing to gather together and enjoy a fantastic seaside holiday, with most principal rooms enjoying harbour, sea and mountain views. Arranged over three floors, Penlan House offers comfortable homely accommodation to a well-maintained standard with modern day comforts in mind, whilst original character features, such as the stripped pitched pine turned staircase to the upper floors, Minton flooring in the hallway and picture hanging rails have been retained. The five bedrooms are on the first and second floors and each has been stylishly designed with good quality furnishings and comfy beds and all enjoy a lovely harbourside and sea view encompassing the mountains beyond, whilst three of them also benefit from having an en-suite shower room. The family bedroom is ideal if you have a younger child or two older teenagers needing a twin room. The family bathroom and the en-suite shower rooms are all well-appointed and of a high standard and quality. The sitting room is comfortable and easily seats eight and it also boasts a large flat screen Smart TV and decorative cast iron fireplace with tiled inserts. The bespoke kitchen with plenty of units, Belfast sink and breakfast bar extends into a dining area with inglenook fireplace housing the woodburning stove; a great area for everyone to sit around the large dining table and plan the day ahead over a leisurely breakfast or reminisce on the day that’s been with a light supper. If you don’t fancy doing any cooking then there are many eating establishments in the town to choose from or what about a family picnic on the beach? Across the road is the harbour, bordered by the beautiful Mawddach Estuary, and is lined with benches where you can enjoy sitting out admiring the views. The long sandy Blue Flag beach is literally just around the corner, making a wonderful area for enjoying a relaxing day at the beach. Harlech, now a World Heritage Site, with its spectacular Castle is only eight miles away, whilst slightly further afield is the Italianate village of Portmierion and the harbour town of Porthmadog, where you can take the Ffestiniog Steam Railway to Blaenau Ffestiniog and enjoy the industrial heritage and slateworks, and for the more adventurous, there’s Zip World Titan or Bounce Below, an underground trampoline. Barmouth is the perfect destination for vintage seaside holidays, walking, cycling and outdoor activity breaks at any time of year.

Barmouth is a traditional seaside town surrounded by the Snowdonia National Park. This traditional seaside town boasts a sandy Blue Flag beach which is perfect for families. A variety of shops, pubs and restaurants combined with the mild climate, make this an ideal destination for a holiday, even out of season. Within a short drive is the Mawddach Estuary, trout fishing in mountain lakes, Harlech Castle, St David's golf course and Portmeirion Italianate Village - just a handful of the many superb attractions within easy reach of this lovely spot.
