The beach is two glorious miles of unbroken sand, perfect for kite-flying, sunbathing and of course, doggy paddling. There are restrictions during the busy summer months, but decent sized areas are reserved for dogs too, so everyone is well looked after.
Barmouth town is a classic seaside spot, with all the usual amusements and charming pooch-friendly pubs like The Royal, that prides itself on offering every doggy customer a treat.
Dog-friendly things to do
Hike along to Harlech
Taken at low tide, this three-hour walk goes all along the coast to Harlech. Once there you can enjoy exploring the magnificent Norman castle, then take a train journey on the Cambrian coastal line to get you back to your cosy cottage for a well- earned rest.
Take a steam train to Fairbourne
Dogs ride for just a pound on this coastal narrow-gauge railway. There are four stops between Barmouth and Fairbourne, and you'll both enjoy The Blue Lake with breath- taking views of Cardigan Bay. Penrhyn Bar and Grill is a great pitstop before taking the train home or enjoy the 50-minute trip by foot and ferry across the estuary.
