Guinevere, Cornwall

You can spy the sea from your own balcony at Guinevere. This luxury dog-friendly apartment is positioned right next to Mullion’s pretty harbour. It means you’ve got restaurants, shops and pubs on your doorstep. But you can also take advantage of Mullion Cove Hotel’s facilities, which include a restaurant, an outdoor heated pool, a gym and a spa. If your group’s bigger than six, there’s also the option of pairing your booking up with neighbouring apartments to sleep up to 16.

Best for… exploring the Broads

Luxury dog-friendly cottages in Norfolk don’t get much better than this. This former coach house is in an ideal spot for exploring everything the pretty region has to offer. You’re around 10 minutes’ drive from Wroxham, which is considered the capital of the Norfolk Broads. So, you can spend your day on the water here, or head a little further to the coast. You’re not far from buzzing Norwich, either – you can get there in less than half an hour. And, after a busy day of exploring, you’ve got the little luxuries of a hot tub, as well as a shared snooker room and indoor heated pool.

Waterhead Cottage, East Portlemouth, Devon

The clue’s in the name at Waterhead Cottage. This place is pulled up to the shores of the Salcombe Estuary, in Devon. And it’s a boater’s dream. The glam town of Salcombe is just five minutes away by boat, so you can pop there for your morning papers and then moor up your hire boat right outside. The South West Coast Path is nearby, too, so dog walks are easy-breezy. The house itself is a beauty. You’ll find luxury touches, like a wine fridge, a boot room with a Belfast sink, and a family snug with a wood burner, beanbags and smart TV.

The Hide, Crossways, Dorset

You get the best of both worlds with this luxury dog-friendly cottage. It’s sat in the fancy gated development of Silverlake, in Dorset, so you get all the perks of a five-star hotel stay, but with your own space to retreat back to. The development’s home to a shared heated pool, a spa and a rooftop bar and restaurant, for when you don’t feel like cooking. The activity list is huge – think kayaking, zip lining and film screenings. Plus, you can treat your furry family members to walks around the nearby dunes and heathlands, or head to Lulworth Cove, which is only 20 minutes away by car.

Best for… romantic retreats

Bed in Coniston Lake (SZ402), Lake District

This one-bedroom luxury apartment sits on a secluded private estate. From the communal grounds, you can stroll down to a jetty on the lake, or hike up to Beacon Fell. You can even spot Coniston Water from the patio. It’s around 10 minutes’ drive to get down to Coniston village, or 20 minutes to popular Windermere. When you come back all muddy from your walk, there’s a doggy shower with hot water – talk about lucky pups! Old Lakenham, Kent

This huge house is big enough for extended families, groups of friends, and your pets. There’s a massive lounge with seating for 14 or more, along with a dining table that’s perfect for hosting family meals. There’s plenty of space outside, too, with a big pool, spacious garden and an eight-person hot tub. Plus, the pool house, with its own kitchen and shower room, is perfect for pool parties in the summer. There’s enough parking for 10 cars, but you won’t need them. There’s a friendly pub just down the road, or you can follow the public footpath to the Loose Valley for lakes and dog walks.

Bed in Lymington (56765), New Forest

If you like your dog-friendly retreats with a bit of character, this luxury Lymington property is right up your street. It’s a picture-perfect thatched cottage with exposed beams and vaulted ceilings. Outside, there’s a summer house, hot tub and pool, as well as a trampoline to keep the kids happy. If you can tear yourself away from all of that, you’re in a top spot. It’s less than five minutes’ drive into Lymington, which puts you close to the coast as well as the New Forest. And dogs will love the popular Wilverley Inclosure walk, which you can reach within 10 minutes’ drive.
