  Very rude owner knocked the door asking why there was more than 2 people at the property ,even tho we had left a message saying there would be an additional 2 people.

  Showed him I had called and left a message on my call log for him still to deny that I had called . Insisted on coming in to the property to get extra bedding ( but felt he was there to check who was there ) as he was there around 10 minutes upstairs ) Garden is enclosed but you have to go round the side to access it , doesn’t actually state that on the booking tho , which again isn’t great when you have children and dogs ,but also the fact that many hikers are walking down the side of the house to the public footpath. Not quite sure when it was last dusted as there were cobwebs everywhere. The lovely bench in the pictures , is totally overgrown with brambles so don’t think you’ll be sat out with your choice of beverage on that! We ended up leaving after 2 days as the garden was a big problem for us and the fact that we felt we couldn’t approach the owner after our first encounter with him . Apart from all the negatives, it’s a fabulous location to see Dartmoor , lovely pub down the road and the bridge is a must see.

  Post Box Cottage, a beautiful, quirky and cosy cottage in the depths of Dartmoor, which means narrow roads, beautiful walks and stunning scenery close by.

  The cottage is well equipped and welcoming, the kitchen serves its purpose with everything close to hand, the dining area is tastefully furnished and the lounge perfect, no doubt in the colder months the log burner will help provide that little extra touch of cosiness. When you climb the steep curved staircase you are greeted by a modern and spacious landing converted to a luxurious bathroom, there is a large shower and inviting bath. The adjacent bedroom is spacious and the king size bed comfortable. We were the first guests at Post Box cottage and enjoyed our stay, our two four legged friends loved the long walks but struggled with the short late evening dark walk for convenience purposes. There is courtyard parking adjacent to the cottage but access is difficult and quite steep particularly if you have a low car. There is additional parking close by but this can also be a challenge.   I really enjoyed my stay in Little Claremont.

  It was a granny annex so is very well appointed for all kitchenware and storage space in the bedroom. The owners Martin and Lynn were friendly and helpful with their own 2 dogs so they were so considerate about my dog Hettie. Great location in village on Dartmoor with plenty of National Trust places to visit and gorgeous walks. A particular favourite of mine just 5 mins drive away was Burrator Reservoir. Park in Quarry and go up over the top away from the road, Sublime views over moors and reservoir. Also a must for dogs is Lydford and Teign Gorges the latter near Castle Drogo which is also worth a visit.

  This is a perfect property if you are travelling with your dog.

  The cottage’s own enclosed, pretty, garden and run in the property’s grounds are great. On arrival the owners were very friendly and helpful - the fresh eggs and dog treats were appreciated. The cottage was clean and well equipped although a hoover and mop would have been useful…..I don’t like leaving muddy pawprints! Wi-Fi was a bit patchy as was mobile service, so unable to do any work from there, but, after all, you are on holiday and the smart TV is good! The main bedroom is large and very comfortable. The location is gorgeous, very quiet and peaceful. Would I go back? Very probably.

  Lovely cottage with everything you need, look out the window and the pub is a 10 second walk away.

  Lots of places to eat within a short drive, and Tavistock has an indoor market with plenty of stalls 5 days a week. One small moan, parking. You can park right outside which is great but, there was a cider festival in the pub across the road all over the bank holiday weekend, and if you went out in your car you would return to find someone parked within a couple of feet of the front door and no parking close by. I had to park a few minutes walk away on at least 6 occasions, twice in the pouring rain. I think a small sign outside the cottage saying "Burham cottage parking only" may help.
