What our customers say about their holidays
Racheal - Verified booking
We recently enjoyed a holiday that had its ups and downs, but ultimately, we made some wonderful memories together.
First, I would like to commend our host for her helpfulness when we lost our way. She was quick to assist us, which made a stressful situation much easier to navigate. However, we did encounter a few issues during our stay that impacted our overall experience. One of the more significant challenges we faced was when the door to our accommodation got stuck. Unfortunately, we had to break it to get it open, and it was disappointing that the host did not check in with us afterwards, despite our call for assistance. A follow-up would have shown a greater level of care and attention. Additionally, we found the person in charge of the swimming area to be quite patronizing, even though we were following all the instructions provided. A more respectful approach would have made our experience much more enjoyable. Another inconvenience was the absence of a washing machine, which we had anticipated would be available. This made it challenging to manage our laundry during the trip. Despite these issues, I want to emphasize that we still managed to create some beautiful memories together. The time spent with loved ones and the adventures we shared made the holiday worthwhile. Overall, while there were some challenges, we appreciate the positive moments and the time we had away. Thank you for the experience!

On first arrival this property was lovely, it had all we needed and seemed great for 3 adults, 3 children and a dog.
However, it soon became clear that it was getting tired and in need of some TLC. The fronts of the drawers in the larger twin room came off, the cupboard unit in the lounge had a loose door, only 1 TV had enough signal for some of the time to be watched and only 1 had a DVD player, despite listing all rooms had this. The X Box controllers didnât work and there was no vacuum to clean over the general day to day clear up of children and pets. The cold water tap upstairs made a dreadful noise and furniture on the lower balcony was just too big for purpose. These were minor things in the long run as the location was beautiful, the on site facilities were a great addition and the lodge was comfortable and cosy. Just a few tweaks and a bit of attention to detail could make this a stay of excellent value. It would also be worth adding to the details that the lodge is at the bottom of a steep hill ( all round) and has several steps to enter, as my disabled mother would have struggled if there had been much more. This wasnât made clear and could have influenced my decision to book.

This accommodation was all that you needed home from home feel and very comfortable beds and cosy living room/kitchen.
The swimming pool and sauna was great to use we swam every day but we did use the shower facilities there after reading that the hot water didnât last long in the bungalow but to be quite honest with the children it was just easier to shower straight after swimming so it suited us they were lovely and warm and kept very clean. The pub is absolutely beautiful the old hall is magnificent the staff were friendly. Also to point out Kevin the maintenance guy was so friendly and helpful (after having a heating problem he was straight on it and was sorted out) lots of lovely little places to go to we went into Looe, polperro, Galiath Falls were breathtaking and hearing the roar of the water! We shall definitely go back to this site the history surrounding it was amazing you can see the old pictures around the little arcade and pub which was really useful to read and the kids enjoyed looking it up as well couldnât fault this at all it was all in all a wonderful week away!

Property was clean and tidy.
Happy with the lodge for the price we paid. It does get very warm upstairs but a lot colder downstairs in the main bedroom/bathroom which do have a slightly damp smell, maybe due to the balcony, lack of sun and lack of airflow. Personally I found the mattress too hot as I think it was foam and I on a personal level would replace the carpet upstairs and in the hall downstairs with hard flooring. Did want to vacuum but it wasnât up to the job. Nice on the balcony upstairs, didnât use the one down as yes a few too many pieces of furniture and not much light. Property is at the bottom of the hill which we got used to in the end as walked it many times with our dog. On site staff are great, really helpful and very dog friendly, pub was lovely too, Sunday carvery was great. We found many dog friendly places, walks and pubs and would definitely visit this area again.

The first thing to say is that the information about 2 parking spots needs to be changed as soon as possible.
If your lucky enough to get a parking spot on the parking to the side where the cottages (read chalets) are itâs reasonably flat otherwise youâll have a steep incline to negotiate up to the property. And for the elderly or infirmed itâs almost impossible to reach the property. As I said earlier they are down as cottages but as some other reviews mention they are really just chalets. The property was clean and tidy and the pots, pans and things were adequate. We have booked with Sykes before and always found them to be excellent properties, but on this occasion we felt let down by the lack of information in the cottage as the only information was from when Covid was about. Overall Iâd class the cottage as ok for young families but as I say itâs not for the elderly
