What our customers say about their holidays

What an amazing find!
Everything was just perfect from the lovely friendly warm greeting and thoughtful gifts of a bottle of cold Prosecco in the fridge plus the owners own estate honey and welsh cakes waiting for us on arrival to the super-comfy four-poster bed, ensuring the best nights sleep away from home we can ever remember. Beautifully and thoughtfully furnished and decorated cottage to a very high standard with everything in pristine condition plus fresh flower decorations and scented reed diffusers strategically placed which filled the air with wonderful smells on arrival. Such a beautiful well kept estate and grounds inside a secure entrance, and just metres from a large tranquil lake with only the sounds of birds breaking the silence allowed us to instantly relax into our new surroundings. Nothing was too much trouble which helped to ensure we enjoyed one of the most memorable weeks away ever. Every possible need was catered for down to the logs for the wood burner which allowed us to enjoy cosy evenings together plus even brand new wellies to ensure we could roam the grounds in all weather conditions. A complete and comprehensive welcome pack together with local information and every possible service contact number you could think of plus a wide range of leaflets providing information on local sites and places to visit together with magazines and books to interest everyone were thoughtfully laid out strategically to greet us in the dining room, and gave us total confidence that the owners knew exactly what matters to everyone on vacation or looking for a home from home. All possible needs were catered for with two fridge freezers (one became our not so mini bar!) a washing machine and heated clothes airer, and a well equipped kitchen. The private garden area with al-fresco dining area and barbecue unfortunately couldn't be put to the test as the weather was not the best but it didn't stop us having a truly wonderful week away and visiting relatives in the area. We are all very much looking forward to returning as soon as we can, and know that anyone else enjoying a break here will also be eager to return too; we just hope (very selfishly) it doesn't prove so popular that availability becomes difficult to impossible as we suspect may well be the case. Thank you so very very much Jemma and Sarn, and please say hello to Jet and Maple for us :-)

To access the property you have to have a fob to get through the gates.
The owner let us in on our first arrival. We spent Christmas week in Grooms quarters. It is huge. There was a nice christmas tree though we also bought our own fairy lights for the sitting room. The kitchen is well stocked and we could do lots of cooking and baking with ease. Only had to buy a food blender. Lots of tea towels and towels were available. Big double fridge and freezer was big enough for food and drink for 8. Tescos was close by. The place was warm and underfloor heating lovely. It was the five bathrooms and bedrooms that sold it to us as we are three families staying there. There are large crates for two dogs which i thought was great though I don't have a dog myself. The washer and dryer was well used. There are plenty of walks direct from the property though it pretty much rained all week so we were not out all that long each day. The only thing not to my taste was the old fashioned bedding, bedroom chairs and big red sofa which were like something out of an old people's home but we moved the furniture around which helped it feel more cosy. The owner rather read us the riot act about being clean and leaving it as found it which to be honest rather perplexed and annoyed me as I would not have done otherwise. But i guess they have had bad experiences before. That said I would stay there again in a heartbeat. The positives far far outweighed any negatives.

The property is spacious giving a sense of freedom of movement.
It was immaculate. I felt time had slipped back to a more serene era of genuine caring . If Dylan Thomas were alive he would choose this place for the sheer input of subject matter to share his pen and imagination. It felt like being transported to the days of James Herriot. Ponies donkeys Goats geese ducks peacocks meerkats raccoons monkeys and lamas. The hosts were so friendly in a.way felt like family. The area peaceful countryside Andrenia made me Welsh cakes delcious To sum up. I awoke from a dream and stepped right into another a time.capsule transported me from Highland to Welsh Country. My friends for the.week mostly had four legs some two with webbed.feet Horns and beaks. I felt like the pied piper being followed around south trust and a harmony of sound. The dawn chorus the cockrel made his presence known so .any years have passed but still I've not grown . The spirit young the batteries recharged an oasis in a.desert could not surpass the beuty of feeling we could raise a glass to a gifted gent and a bonnie lass. So fare thee a while as time goes past and seasons come and seasons go but two beautiful people put all their love into what they know to bring a little bit of heaven into creation serving lost souls a lovely vacation. Regards Mark Burns.

Great communication from the owner, welcome pack left on kitchen table was lovely.
The property has a charm about it, the furnishings give an insight into its past, a working farm. Local culture is displayed in the locked show cases, rugby balls cricket memorabilia and programmes from local shows (eisteddford). Six adults and two children spent a week relaxing here, using every room the hot tub was brilliant and the walks around the grounds were picturesque and productive. Lots of apples and pears as well as blackberries were foraged and eaten in pies made in the kitchen. The local cat befriended the girls and drank lots of milk! The local trains go past quickly and cause no problem with noise at all, occasionally a military plane or helicopter flew over which was a pleasant experience and local wildlife was abundant. Red kites, buzzards predominantly in the sky above and a fox could be heard in the evenings, the river has trout in it, as proved by a local fly fishermen. We really didnât want to leave, and this was our 13th Sykes booking, we intend to be back to check out the local gold mine! Book early, we left it too late. Thanks again for a wonderful week.

Even Storm Bert couldnât spoil our trip to Tirallen!
We had a fabulous time at this beautifully renovated property. Itâs an easy place to travel to, and whilst itâs only a couple of minutes away from the main road, it feels as though you are in the middle of nowwhere. The property is a short walk from the River Towy, although when we arrived it was far too wet and windy, so a walk along the riverbank was off the cards! The house is in a quiet location on a former dairy farm, and thereâs even a farm cat to keep you company if you so wish. There are five spacious bedrooms, plenty of hot running water and a lovely modern bathroom and kitchen. It was a pleasure to sit in the hot tub and stare at the stars and then return to the house to either be sociable and watch TV in one lounge or sit quietly with a book in the other! There are plenty of superb pubs in the vicinity for a tasty meal and we had a fabulous lunch at Y Polyn near the National Botanic Gardens. The owners were fabulous and able to assist with any queries and very helpful. We hope to return before too long as it was the perfect place to relax and unwind.
