What our customers say about their holidays

We would strongly recommend Sheila's Cottage to anyone wanting to visit Penryn/Falmouth/Truro coastline, or further afield.
It truly is a lovely 'home from home' experience. Everything, was so cosy, clean and welcoming. Graeme and Gail left us a bottle of wine, fresh flowers, chocolates and treats for our dog, as well as even laying the fire in the log burner ready for us. Central heating through-out, which was timed perfectly, so that we were always warm in October. Even extra niceties, such as fresh milk in the fridge, the little things you might forget to take such as cooking oil, condiments ect all provided. This was on top of all cleaning products provided, including dishwasher and washing machine tabs. Extremely comfortable bed, pillows ect. This cottage has it all, including peace and quiet if you need a restful break. It also has a lovely conservatory, with comfortable seating to put your feet up and enjoy the evenings drawing in, in comfort. Cards, games, CDs, DVDs also provided if you want to fill some time. Our hosts were lovely and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. I mistakenly left my hairdryer and kindle behind and they kindly informed me and posted it out to me the same day, wrapped in bubble wrap for protection. Also, sitiated close to all amenities and dog friendly beaches in half term. Quite frankly, in our experience we can honestly say that the whole week was made for us with such a lovely clean, inviting and cosy cottage to return to each day. Thank you Graeme and Gail for a lovely holiday that we both felt was a breath of fresh air for us, as well as extremely good value for money. This cottage surpassed all our expectations, thank you! It is definitely on our radar for return visits.

Immaculately maintained, tiny characterful property.
The Old Stable had everything we needed for a comfortable week away, although I would not think a longer stay would be practicable owing to the basic cooking facilities (a portable two ring electric hob and microwave) and just a tumble drier meaning handwashing lighter items of clothing, finding a laundrette or bringing lots of stuff. We appreciated the good quality tea, coffee bags and biscuits which are the hallmark of a thoughtful and welcoming host. Towels and tea towels are provided but bring your own beach towels. The bed on its little gallery is comfortable but we found moving the rolling steps to and fro in order to cook then wash up a bit of a faff, be aware they are quite heavy with steel handrails and glass panels. We knew about this arrangement, and it wouldn't put us off staying here again. No outside space of course, which we also knew about, but the quiet beach is adjacent and is one of our favourites on the Lizard. The Five Pilchards pub, which in the past has done good pub food, has closed down and is for sale but we had a great meal at the beach café next door. I know people rave about the Fat Apples café just up the lane but every time we went past we had just missed it being open. It shuts promptly at 5 pm. Our dog enjoyed staying here and we were glad she couldn't get up the steep steps and attempt to climb onto the bed to find us, which she sometimes does in an unfamiliar house. She had to stay in her own dog bed. She knew where we were and could see us so she was content. This was a definite plus for us.

Everything was better than we expected (apart from the weather'''''') The owners Julia and Dave were a joy to meet a were extremely helpful.
My only criticism was the design of the Wet-room pump action centrifugal spinning floor mop which I thought was a novel and great idea but it is not not fast enough to be effective and not the owners fault either. Then there was the impossibility in getting a cab to take us to the Polgooth when it was RAINING. But to be be Fair it is too short a FARE to make it worth their while I suppose. Still I can't help wondering if they would show an interest and suddenly find an available cab if you were to say name your price, or they could impose some sort of surcharge for short runs at peak times as a minimum charge. To be honest, I would happily have paid an extra £5 or even £10 on a special family night out to save us all from a drenching from the Biblical downpours.. that would have had Noah heading for the hills. The steep driveway was not anything to worry about and became a bit of a chuckle after the first ascent / decent. btw there is hardly any phone signal so a good way to chat is via messenger or whatsapp but then I expect most people know that one already but I was a bit slow to suss that one out. All in all, none of that was Dave and Julia's fault and I've been rambling a bit now methinks, and have digressed from announcing most importantly that this was possibly one of the best retreats that we have spent our break in/at and wouldn't hesitate from recommending to my friends.

Sheilaâs Cottage was perfect in every way.
Quiet, picturesque surroundings in the owners garden. The cottage, with its super conservatory a bonus, had everything needed for a great relaxing break. We wanted for nothing, there was plenty of crockery, cutlery and cooking gear galoreâ¦.all spotless. Decorated in a cosy fashionâ¦lots of cupboards containing fascinating items, and plenty of books and games etc. Kitchen was amazing and cooker was easy to work. Shower was lovely and powerful in the en-suite bathroom. Plenty of storage spaceâ¦in a fitted wardrobe. Graeme and Gail were lovely hosts who left us milk, chocolates and wine, and we left with a cutting of a very unusual plant!! A top notch propertyâ¦.we loved it here!

Fantastic cottage.
Lots of space, with large living room / dining room, and a sizeable conservatory. Decent sized walk in shower cubicle with lovely powerful shower. Kitchen very well equipped with everything you could need. The cottage was spotlessly clean, the welcome treats on arrival were a lovely surprise. Graham was so friendly, helpful, and genuinely concerned when our dog had to go to the vet with a shoulder strain. I would definitely recommend staying here - great location to explore Helston, Falmouth and the Lizard. Donât be put off by the narrow lanes - Sheilaâs Cottage is an absolute gem with perfect peace and quiet.
