Guests say

Barn End Cottage is a cosy and charming property in a picturesque village, ideal for exploring the Cotswolds. Guests appreciate its cleanliness, well-equipped kitchen, and the local pub's proximity. While some find the cottage comfortable and beautifully decorated, others note issues with maintenance and comfort of the beds and sofa.

The cottage generally receives positive remarks for cleanliness, with most guests finding it clean and well-presented. However, a few guests mentioned dust and a leaky shower, slightly affecting the overall perception.

The location is highly praised for its beauty and convenience for walks and exploring the Cotswolds. The proximity to a local pub and the town of Chipping Campden is frequently mentioned as a positive aspect.

Guests have mixed feelings about comfort; some find the cottage cosy and the wood burner adds to the experience, while others report uncomfortable beds, a challenging sofa bed, and low ceilings that can be problematic for taller individuals.

Facilities are well-regarded in terms of the kitchen being well-appointed. However, several guests reported issues with the shower, oven, and TV, indicating a need for better maintenance and clearer instructions for use.

There is insufficient information to assess thoughtfulness as there are no mentions of gifts or special touches that would indicate the hosts' consideration for guests' experiences.

The cottage was beautiful and the bed was very comfortable, the bedding was really nice quality too! The only criticism is that it could do with a few little paint touch ups and a good wet vacuum of the sofa as it was a bit grubby. It is really worth noting that there is no outside area for dogs so even though the house is dog friendly you do have to be careful outside as there is no gate. Other than that we were really impressed with everything and had the loveliest time in the cottage and the Cotswolds. PS: The pub is no longer open in the village which was a bit of a disappointment as we wanted one we could walk to.

The first impressions of Barn End cottage are very good and there are some good points, the kitchen is well equipped and good quality, the lounge itself is good with a log burner. However there are some issues. Although it says dog friendly, there is no outside space for dogs to roam as there is no back garden and the front is straight onto a road with no gate, there is only parking space and a small table with two chairs at the front. The beds are VERY uncomfortable, especially in the main bedroom, the side nearest the window has a big dip in I had to pull my husband out of it! The pillows were also poor quality and uncomfortable. The sofa is also poor and very uncomfortable. Also we could not check in until 4 o’clock which we thought was a bit late when you pay for that day. These things would make us not want to return. There is a guest book where these issues have been highlighted going back years but obviously nothing has been changed. It is a shame as by upgrading the beds and sofa it would make all the difference to your experience and would make you want to stay again, as the cottage itself is lovely, as it is we would not go again, so it would be a good investment.

However there was only a very small front space at the front of the property and no gate Property on busy road The first impression was not good. Blown windows, a door mat that had seen better days and a boot scrapper that had disintegrated The downstairs loo had a yucky mop and an ironing board. Not hygienic The sofa was not relaxing and the cover had staining The mattress was not comfortable and the pillows were poor quality The towels and bedding were fine Overall a disappointment. Cottage could be lovely but in need of an upgrade
