What our customers say about their holidays

Lovely little house only a few minutes from the centre of Tewkesbury.

Downstairs has a kitchen and living room , really comfortable sofas and a nice size tv which is unusual for lettings. The shower room downstairs was also handy . Upstairs there is a bathroom , landing area and nice size bedroom with a really comfortable bed and lots of bedding . We were concerned it would be cold and took throws etc but it wasn’t at all and infact we turned the thermostat down to 10c at night . Nice walks along the river , beautiful Christmas Eve service at the Abbey , some lovely meals out and we followed the heritage trail found on a booklet looking at the beautiful Tudor houses on a Christmas Day walk . Very near to our daughter in Cheltenham and nice to explore a new town . The bedroom, living areas and bathrooms were nice and clean . The only disappointing things we encountered was the fact that the kitchen could do with a really deep clean . The dish cloth really smelt and I had to soak it in boiled water and a little bleach before use . The kitchen drawers and cupboards had lots of crumbs etc . I emptied the cutlery drawer and washed it all and got rid of all the stains and crumbs but didn’t want to do any others on my holiday . The condiments and teas also need a good sort out as many have expired . This was also the only cottage we have ever been to that didn’t have a welcome pack . Some milk for a cup of tea etc would have been nice on arrival to save us going back out for it after our long drive . We really enjoyed our stay despite these little niggles and it was a lovely little Christmas.

A perfect stay in a perfect property.

The Old Paper Shop is an ancient building, made comfortable and conveneient by careful updating and furnishing. The decor is beautifully in keeping with the age of the property. The bed is very comfy; the shower is excellent. The kitchen is tiny, but has been thoughtfully designed and provided with everything we could need, even down to salt and pepper! The property is right on a main street in the centre of Tewkesbury, but effective double (and then doubled again!) glazing meant we heard no traffic noise once inside. Tewkesbury itself and the surrounding countryside are full of picturesque and historic interest. We would defiitely recommend The Old Paper Shop.

Lovely looking property and very quirky.

On the main road but the secondary glazing blocks out the sound almost completely. Downside is that if you have someone above you then you can hear them walking around above your ibedroom. The people above us also had a dog which they let out into the shared garden (which the bedroom backs on to) several times each night waking us up. We were very tired by the end of our three night stay. Could also do with some instruction for the combi microwave/oven as others had noted in the guestbook. Overall a nice place and great location let down by the things mentioned above.

Tewkesbury is a good central point for travelling around South Wales and The Cotswolds as well as many parts of Gloucestershire, Worcestershire and Hereford shire -- including the lovely Wye Valley region.

Tewkesbury itself was a very pleasant and interesting town with the Abbey as its focal point and our visits to Ledbury and Winchcombe in particular were excellent with specific visits to Eastnor Castle and Sudeley Castle respectively. Our accommodation at The Old Papershop was quaint and compact -- and very welcoming. Evening eating in Tewkesbury was an average experience at best -- with the big exception of Dalchini`s, one of the best Indian restaurants we have come across in many years and serving very good Bangladesh cuisine. We had a good week.

A delightful and comfortable accommodation, but was let down by several issues namely; 1.

Out of date food left in the larder. 2. The air fryer was left dirty. 3. Some light bulbs were not working. 4. There were no dishwasher tablets. 5. Only a little toilet paper to split between the 2 toilets. 6. 3 out of the 4 gas burners would not stay alight. 7. The floor downstairs was sticky and not very clean. 8.The bedroom balcony door would not open. 9. The step from the downstairs shower room is positively dangerous without some sort of warning strip. We both stumbled down at some point and badly jarred ourselves.
