  Despite being assured when I booked the holiday that the house would be clean, unfortunately it wasn’t.

  We couldn’t use the freezer as it was so iced up, I had to wash the fridge and the cutlery drawer before we used them. The oven was filthy so couldn’t use that. The seals on the bottom of the shower doors were filthy with black grime. The house looked generally uncared for. Wallpaper peeling off in the lounge. Door handles scratched. The duvet covers were not fastened. There was a dead wasp in the kitchen window which had obviously been there some time and there was also a dead worm on the lounge carpet in the corner. As far as we could tell all the cleaners had done was hoover the carpets without moving anything and flick a duster round. Fortunately apart from the shower doors the bathrooms were ok.All the window sills needed a good clean, the back yard needed weeding and the furniture jet washing. Given the fact the fact that we have been in lockdown and the property can only have been open a few weeks this house has obviously not been given a deep clean before re-opening. When we had finished unpacking I gave the dog a drink of water, he splashed some on the kitchen floor which I immediately wiped up with clean kitchen paper towel, which, when I looked at it (the kitchen towel) was filthy, obviously the floor hadn’t been washed very well. I really don’t like complaining but having seen negative reviews on trip advisor I raised the questions of cleanliness when I booked the house. Unfortunately I can’t remember the young mans name who made my booking but he was very helpful and contacted the owner who said there had been a problem with the cleaner but this was resolved and the house would be clean. Having been to a cottage in Saltburn last year which was absolutely spotless I booked with confidence. I feel that we should be recompensed in part as we definitely did not receive the quality we paid for and expected. Photographic evidence can be supplied.

  A beautiful apartment in a really convenient location.

  The apartment is spacious and tastefully decorated throughout with everything provided for a holiday stay. A welcome gift of wine and biscuits was left for us which was very thoughtful. And milk provided was great but after 5 hours of travelling a couple of tea bags would have been very much appreciated - neither of us drink coffee. The furnishings in the house are beautiful and create a relaxing environment after a day of walking the bed and sofa are very comfortable. My only critique and it is small would be the shower as it’s near impossible to get a consistent temperature, two days were perfect but the others were either freezing cold or it would literally melt your skin and I set it the same each time. The shower unit dripped and also had a leak which sprayed out the bottom so I’m not sure if that caused the problem. I used the bath instead which is fine but I do prefer to shower due to having had spinal surgery. Overall we had an amazing week and we would definitely book to stay here again.

  Really good location and once I found the knack off lining up my car to reverse in there was little difficulty in getting my fairly large Vauxhall Mokka safely in the enclosed drive/courtyard. The location could hardly be better, very close to the main shopping centre but still quiet enough. Very roomy house and although not a fan of modern art I found the contrast between the house and some very traditional features and "quirky" art interesting. Beds were comfy enough though my wife found one of the sofas a bit uncomfortable. Well equipped with a good sized fridge freezer and the pool table was in surprisingly very good condition. My son also enjoyed using the small home cinema. The outside space is really just basically a parking space couldn't see me spending much time there though as I say Whitby town is close enough even if it is a rainy day.

  Our stay at Abbey Vista was perfect.

  We came with our little girl during the horrible storm so we stayed in abbey vista most of the time and thank god this is the apartment we booked!! Lovely and clean, you literally have everything you need. We had a slight problem with the electric cutting off because of the storm getting an outside light but Stuart came straight away fixed to problem and we was back into a nice warm apartment. Nice little touch giving you a bottle of wine, biscuits and even milk to get you started. Would 100% recommend and we even managed to get engaged during our stay at Abbey Vista so definitely a trip to remember and not just because of the 90mph wind!! Thank you to both owners who really do think about their guests. I never ever do reviews but this one needed one so hopefully see you again soon!

  Loved this place.

  It's in a perfect location to explore Whitby. We stayed for a week. The Owners contacted us to say we could go in a day earlier at no extra charge, which was nice. Unfortunately we couldn't make it but we managed to have access to the property earlier on the day . The place is lovely, it's spotlessly clean. Everything you need is there. Nice touch having milk, biscuits and wine on arrival. WiFi is excellent and having to work during the day was made so much easier with this Overall this is a place we will return to in the future. The owners are in contact and very approachable should there be any issues. Excellent place to stay and see Whitby
