What our customers say about their holidays

I booked The Stable for a family weekend break, 2 adults, 2 children under 12 and our dog.
I didn't have much in the way of expectation as we hadn't been to this part of the UK before but we had the most wonderful break. The photos of The Stable don't quite do it justice. It is beautifully decorated, thoughtfully equipped and comfortable. The views from the sitting room and main bedroom were breath taking. To add to this was the truly quaint surprise of the Steam Train coming along the bottom of the garden, some way away but visible and audible. It was the icing on the cake for us. The Stable and other apartments are on the main road, closer than we thought but the birds in the trees were more audible than traffic and so the road was of no real concern and caused no issues. Plenty of parking spaces for the 4 apartments too. Before we arrived we recieved a call from the owner to check estimated arrival times and to let us know we could be in the apartement an hour earlier than check in time of 3, which was lovely. A welcome basket with Easter goodies was warmly recieved and so thoughtful. The Stable is located 10 mins from Puzzlewood which we thoroughly recommend. 20 mins ish from Tintern where there is an Abbey we recommend seeing and 20 mins ish from Chepstow where we looked around the castle. The Stable is within walking distance of the High Street with a Tesco and petrol station and some lovely restaurants/take aways close by. The park and cafe set behind Lydney High Street were a lovely surprise, as was the public footpath opposite the house to which access is gained in the last road on the left as she come to The Stable, behind the houses to the right as you enter the road. We had breakfast in the garden overlooking the forest. The garden is beautiful and well kept and thoughtfully placed outdoor furniture is dotted around for sunbathing, eating and just watching the birds. Our children have told me they want to come back. We might just do that!

Property was super and we really enjoyed our stay.
House was well located just a few minutes walk from the town centre via a nearby cut-through. Easy parking outside. Although weather was cold outside when we arrived, the house was warm inside and during our stay. Property was good throughout with decent showers and hot water always available. House was clean, kitchen well equipped (but could do with better cereal bowls and there was no salt and pepper!). Appliances all worked fine. Lounge had comfy sofas. Nice to see a few family games there too. Lounge also had a good but older style smart TV. This worked well, with Netflix and a few streaming apps. An HDMI cable was required to connect our laptop for games and other streaming services. Fortunately we had our own. Upstairs bedrooms were roomy and the beds comfy. There was a table tennis table in the garage. A bit cramped but we did manage a short game! Only a very small enclosed patio area outside. Worth noting especially if you have a dog or small children but not an issue to us as we didnât use it. Finally, it was nice to have a welcome pack on arrival! All in all a great place to stay. Stow is a lovely town with several small shops to browse, great pubs and restaurants and lots of walking nearby even in the middle of winter!

The views are breath taking.
The owner is not intrusive and she's lovely. The pool is big and warm when the sun is out. Perfect for walks with the dog and large garden (bear in mind it is open). It is only a few miles from Gloucester so not too out of the way. Supermarkets and Gloucester Quay within 10 minutes. The rooms are spacious. A chest of drawers would be really helpful in the second double. We really did live out of the suitcase. The property description states there is a bath. There isn't. Not a major biggie but we only have a walk-in shower and was looking forward to it. The place does feel like it could do with a really good clean. Downstairs toilet seat is loose. The small fridge in the kitchen doesn't close properly as the seal has worn. I did advise the owner. But other people have mentioned it in the comments as well some time ago. The internet and phone signals are poor. Would I go back? Yes, but not in the high season, I don't feel the property reflects the price. However, if you don't care about the said issues, it is a beautiful area and the owner's friendliness really did make the holiday.

Absolutely lovely cottage.
On a working farm, but you would never know. We did not go prepared for swimming, but wish we had done so. The enclosed swimming pool was clean and relatively private. Mattress not to our liking, but still slept well. A cottage with character....including the squeaky floorboards up stairs. Extremely well kitted out. TWO fridges was a welcome bonus. Did not try the open log fire on this visit, however we did need the heating on for a short time in the evening(s). WIFI/internet great. Welcome tray with homemade wine & bickies, plus fresh milk in the kitchen fridge (big thank you). Whilst September did not bring the best of weather, it did not detract from a brilliant stay. A minor disappointment was the inability to benefit from the extensive views from the downstairs windows due to shrubs being overgrown plus the patio area was not prepared for use (although weather was terrible in any case). THANKS MRS REEVE (?) , you have a wonderful retreat and we recommend it to any one who wants a comfy secluded holiday.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Beauâs House!
The interior is gorgeous. Extremely clean, modern and very homely. The amenities are also great - we particularly loved the Nespresso machine! Helen left us a cake & some milk for when we arrived which was a lovely touch. The location is a perfectly central hub to visit all of the gorgeous Cotswold villages. Bourton-on-the-Water (which was our favourite of the villages) is just over 5 minutes away by car. Stow-on-the-Wold is a similar distance away which is also a beautiful village. Beauâs House is on a new build estate which we loved walking round in the evenings. Itâs very quiet & peaceful. There are lots of childrenâs play areas dotted around and so much greenery too. There is a Co-op opposite the house - very convenient! The garden is south-facing & enclosed making it a nice space for all including our toddlers & dogs. There is also parking for 2 cars and an electric charging point. We will definitely be staying here again when we next visit the Cotswolds!
