What our customers say about their holidays
Lauren - Verified booking
This cottage has the potential to be exceptional.
It's very dark and cosy, which for December was great. It's tucked away without a drive, but we found the on road parking to be absolutely fine. We really enjoyed reading about the property's history, which was included as part of the welcome information. We appreciated the firewood for the first fire, and the sparkling wine in the fridge was a nice touch. There is a well stocked Spar down the road, and it is very close to some stunning beach walks. Communication with the owner was great when we couldn't find the immersion switch for the hot water - friendly and very helpful. If you are considering this cottage, though, know that you will need to bring *everything* with you. There was one toilet roll, one tea towel, one bin liner for the small kitchen bin, no hand soap, no hair dryer (not great to discover that right before a brisk beach walk in December!), no heater in either of the bedrooms. The single tea towel quickly became smelly because there is no central heating so therefore no radiator to dry it on. Many holiday lets we have stayed in have everything you need to make it a home from home - this isn't one of those properties, so just bear that in mind. Finally, for dog owners: the garden is not connected to the cottage. It is totally separate, so letting your dog out for a wee before bed or in the middle of the night isn't an option - you'll need to put their lead on and take them out. Overall a very cosy cottage full of character and history, it just needs a bit more attention to detail.

This Cottage is very very small and not suitable for more than one person.
There was just me and my dog! Front nothing like the picture - overgrown , tatty, and a depository for bins and recycling for this and the next door cottage. Cottage is dark! There is one small bedroom at the top of a very narrow staircase - not suitable for anybody with mobility issues. There are five beds but you can only seat two people in the very narrow lounge. Bathroom downstairs and very narrow. The fridge is tiny and the washing machine leaked (reported to owner). There is no enclosed outside space only access to the coastal path so nowhere to let children out to play. There is a tiny so-called patio with a tatty/rusty table and chairs. Rusty washing line attached to the table. The cottages to the right of the property are derelict and have been sold so this will become a building site in the near future!!! When I arrived there was nowhere to park - the on-street parking is a bit of a nightmare - to be fair it did ease towards the end of week. Very difficult to unload from car to house. Did not use the Beach Hut. No Welcome Pack or loo roll. This was the second cottage I moved into during my three week stay, problems with both. Do Sykes inspect the properties? I have been renting property in Nefyn for many years and this is the first time I have encountered so many problems. I have booked another Cottage for 2024 but know the property and hopefully will not encounter any problems.

The property wasn't as advertised in that there was no king sized bed (property description has now been rectified after someone was sent to measure the bed!
). We received a small amount of compensation for this error. On arrival the property wasn't as clean as we would expect, lots of cob webs, dead spiders and dust in areas around the house. We had to vacuum. The space is good, lounge fine, kitchen could have more oven trays etc but generally OK. No clothes airer so difficult to dry towels or out door gear if unable to use outdoor line. Hot tub fine although all outside furniture is left to the elements so be prepared to clean it down if you want to sit on it. Garden nice and tidy, good size. Bedrooms ok other than incorrect sized bed plus the mattress in the front room is like something from victorian times with uncomfortable and very noisy springs. If you have a big car I doubt you'd get another on the drive and beware as the roads are extremely narrow and if anyone parks opposite the gate you may struggle to get out. Nefyn itself has good and bad points, some of it is run down but it has a good Spar shop, lovely meals and welcome at the local Hotel down the road, Indian was fine and pizza/kebab shop was good. The real star is the beach which is reached down a steepish hill and is just lovely. There's a lovely cafe, beach huts and dog friendly on one side. The water is clean and clear with safe swimming. Overall disappointed with what we got for the price paid for the accommodation.

The property itself is lovely, very well equipped and in a great location.
Also thanks for sorting a Christmas tree, that was much appreciated. Unfortunately when we arrived the temperature inside was 11.4 degrees! The hive heating schedule was set to 7 degrees for the most part so would have never warmed up. It took a good 24 hours and 2 bags of logs before the property finally became habitable. Cleanliness was good in the main but there were lots of cobwebs around and under the sofas very dusty. The tap In the kitchen drips constantly which gets very annoying. Also as mentioned in other reviews, the doors donât close properly. Itâs only a small thing but it gets quite irritating and would only take a bit of effort to put right. We also found that whilst the garden is mainly secure, our small dog was able to squeeze through the gate, we feel a little netting cable tied to the bottom of the gate would be beneficial. It was very dark outside, the lights seemed to be on a timer that didnât come on until well after dark which made standing out to make sure my dog didnât escape more difficult, heâs a little black dog so I couldnât even see him without a torch. The beds were comfortable but the sofas absolutely not. We left a day early. Itâs a shame about the little things when the property itself is so lovely.

Really enjoyed our stay at the cute and compact College Cottage.
It was as described on the listing and met all our expectations. We were a party of 4 - 2 adults and 2 Children aged 10 and 13 and it was perfect for what we needed. The weather was amazing which meant most of our days were spent on the beach - having the beach hut was brilliant. It meant that we could leave our beach stuff and inflatables down there every day and it provided a little bit of shade with the sun being behind us as we looked out to sea. Nefyn beach is the best in the area from what we saw and is really safe water for kids - although despite being a no car beach, cars with boats did come on to the beach a bit which was a bit annoying but they did drive very considerately and they left again as soon as the boats were off. The walk to the beach from the back door of the cottage along the costal path takes mins and is a very pleasant pathed walk through farmland and a quiet road. We continued on the coastal path one day and walked to Morfa Nefyn, the next bay and the views on the walk were simply stunning. This is a beautiful part of the world and the cottage was great with all the amenities we could need on our doorstep.
